The Nitty Gritty

I am officially unemployed. I went in Monday morning and gave my notice and was moved out of my office by 10:30 am. Which was followed by a trip to the mall and lunch with my husband after.

My job was with a medical clinic where I trained all medical staff on computer programs. Our entire departments hours varies depending on where we are at that day. If we are at an office that starts at 7:30, we start our day at 7 or 7:15, if it's 8, then we start our day at 7:45. So, when I am at my desk for a day, my start time is 7:30. Mind you our ENTIRE department follows these same rules not just me. I was wrote up on Friday for have 31 tardies. Yes, coming in at 8, when I had a training class from 8 to 5, coming in at 7:45 when the office doesn't open until 8. I was furious. Why would they single me out? Well, as far as I can tell, from my bosses comment of (and YES SHE REALLY SAID THESE WORDS), "you need to decide if this job is the right job for you. If you want to be a mother or work here. Go home and talk to your husband and decide". So of course, she was shocked when I gave my notice on Monday. Because, really she didn't mean it that way. UH, OK. Not sure how else anyone could really take that. She told me that I was wrote up because her boss didn't like my PTO balance (paid time off bank) and she felt I needed to boost it. Oh ok. So, um yea, I QUIT!

I have applied at a few places. My husband is being the bestest ever. He is so supportive and caring. I have been kind of taken aback, actually. Because he hasn't always been the sympathetic type! He says to take a few months off. I just wish I could justify that financially right now. But I am not ready to take a few months off. If this were May, yes, but not March. I still have stuff to pay! So, we will make do right now and I will look. But above all, it's really not up to me or him, it's up to the Man upstairs. It's all in His plan, really.

And Then It Was Dead

It died.

I want to pretty much hurl myself out of a window. But refrained for the kids' sake, I mean who would feed them if I were gone?

My laptop...which my husband gave me... B.R.O.K.E. sniffle I first noticed that when I was lounging in bed with my beloved (the laptop, not the husband) the plugger cord thing wouldn't stay in the hole tight and secure. NO problem, I thought, I just pushed it in harder, I mean that *should* fix it, right!?!? uh, no. Then I just moved my legs... my legs people!!!! I, then, lost all ability to charge my laptop. Yep, no connection at all. No need to panic, right? I am sure the plugger thing just needs to be pushed in harder into the little hole. Damn, no such luck. NO charge. *sniffle* It's kind of a key element to my lil' laptop.

Defeated, I took the laptop to my husband in his office and said, "honey there seems to be something wrong with my little charger thing and the plugger". (It should be noted that he is a Network Administrator and does this for a living, I on the other hand work in IT but know nothing about computers, per se.) He takes one look at it and gets PISSY! (seriously, what nerve!!!!) Proceeds to tell me that the plugger box (i.e. insert very technical name here) is completely broke and it is a MAJOR (EMPHASIS ON THIS) part. It isn't easy to fix and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah... I quit listening after I asked, "So, you don't just have the part laying around you can fix it with?" (Since his room is filled with needless computer parts - sure they have a purpose, but I don't know what it is so it is needless!). He says, "NO, it's a MAJOR (FURTHER EMPHASIS) part!" *sniffle* I walk away....

FINE... I have my books from the library I need to read, I think to myself. I can read, ha! I don't need my laptop anyway, we have 2 other desktops in the house, no biggie. I need to read more anyway and not spend so much time working looking at blogs nightly.

W.R.O.N.G. My laptop and I were one. We were connected on a much deeper level. She (cuz it was a she) understood me and what I wanted. But she just couldn't keep up and she got tired and just gave in. *sigh* This all became so clear when.....

.... tonight my husband brings me another laptop, gets it all set up and hands it to me. I swear he has some magic pile in that room of his, because I honestly don't know where it came from.... but I don't care. I HAVE A LAPTOP AGAIN. No favorites or anything, but it has wireless Internet and really what more could a girl ask for?

Nothing but bad bad bad luck...

So far in my life, there has been one concurrent theme going on.... bad luck. Now, I know I should count my blessings as all my kids are healthy, I am healthy, my husband is healthy. I know I should be thankful that my husband and I have good, decent jobs and not out delivering pizzas (not that there is anything wrong with that!) like the young gal that just brought ours to us (while walking on a sheet of ice called my driveway). I know this whole routine. But after today... I am rethinking this whole life thing. My previous post has me depressed anyway, no need to further add to it! I come home and my oldest son tells me that I really don't care about him (his ploy to make me feel guilty and help him with his huge senior project due next week). I told him of course I really do care and you don't have to try guilting me into helping him, asking would work just fine. Then, my daughter is losing her voice (she isn't really sick...yet) and she has her Nutcracker performance this week and dress rehearsals all this week. Now for the big finish....

We have a couple gallons of paint sitting off of our kitchen, these are for projects we haven't gotten to yet... but plan on as soon as we have a nice day on a weekend. My cat likes to sit on top of the cans. Tonight, he jumped off the top can. The top can of PINK paint for my daughters room came tumbling down and ...wait for it... SPILLED ALL OVER MY KITCHEN FLOOR. Yes, the whole can. Is it disturbing that my first thought was to just walk away, go out of the door and never come back? Luckily for my family... my husband walked in the door exactly 2 seconds after this occurred. This was precisely the moment an unfavorable F word came seething out of my mouth and I was standing there with my jaw to the floor.

How does one clean up an entire can of spilled paint off of a vinyl floor? With a lid and a dust pan. Oh and about 10 old towels and sheets. Luckily my husband is wonderful (don't believe all those other stories I told you labeled dumb husbands...) and he cleaned the whole thing up!

On the bright side, we are planning on replacing our kitchen floor in the very near future. So THANK GOD that it didn't spill after the upgrade or I would be writing this from the loony bin right now. (Do they have Internet access and allow a laptop?!? HMMMMMMMMMMMM)

You know what, writing this all out has been kind of therapeutic for me.... because if I looked at the bright side of things I could say 1. It dumped on an old yucky needing replaced floor. 2. My husband was so sincere and cleaned it all up, the whole time saying "It's okay honey... It will be alright... NO I DIDN'T get paint on my jeans..." Oh you get the picture. 3. My daughter doesn't have to sing in the Nutcracker just dance, so the voice loss isn't that huge. 4. Pink is my favorite color.
